Home Match Vs Bellshill Still seeking first win Airdrie golf Clubs men’s team are still seeking that elusive first victory after their home match against Bellshill ended in a scrappy draw. Following the lightening storm of the first match and the warm sunshine of the second, Mother Nature decided to have some more fun by sending gale force winds to spoil the occasion. Both teams understandably struggled in the conditions, with the wind constantly swirling and changing direction. In the end both teams will feel slightly relieved that they did not lose. Airdrie are hoping for a change of fortune both in terms of weather and results when they take on Crowood (away) in their next match. Team G Taylor, S Rennie, R J Main, S Morgan, D Craig, C Tierney, D Higgins, A Robertson, J Bond, G Dalziel Thursday 4th May Home match Vs East Kilbride The Airdrie team began there consolidation of Division 2 with a very spirited performance against a very strong East Kilbride team who will among the favourites to be promoted to Division 1. Having been promoted last year Airdrie have made it clear that they will not be in the division simply to make up the numbers Although the match finished 5-5, with a little bit of luck the Airdrie team could have come away with a victory which would have been no less than they deserved. Team G L Taylor, S Rennie, R J Main, S Morgan, K Arthur, D Craig, G Dalzell, C Tierney, J Miller, D Higgins Both teams should be complemented on the individual performances where some superb golf was played in the middle of a lightening storm, conditions which can only be described as dangerous. Both managers commented that it was great to see the match played in such a sportsmanlike manner.

Home Match Vs Carluke Airdrie Golf Club finally taste success AGC finally got their first victory of the season with a 6.5 – 3.5 home win against a very strong Carluke side. Gusty winds made the conditions tricky, particularly on the back 9, with the 13th and 14th being particularly challenging in the swirling winds. In the end Airdrie’s local knowledge allowed them to better master the conditions and gain a well deserved win. The team have now given themselves a real chance of survival in Division 2. It is vital however, that they take confidence from this morale boosting victory and, at the very least, win all their remaining home matches Team J Miller, R J Main, S Morgan, D Craig, C Tierney, D Higgins, A Robertson, J Bond W Feguson, G Keyes
